British Legion Scotland Miniature Badge Special Commission
Recently
discovered in the shaving kit of the late Major A Small JR by Chris Lampitt of
Cornwall. This exquisite silver gilt 9 carat gold miniature "Past Chairman's"
badge is an example of the jeweller's craftsmanship at its highest level.
It measures 22mm x 14mm, there are no visible hallmarks or
manufacturers/silversmith name. The only indication that it is gold it has 9 Ct
and dated 1938 engraved on its reverse side with the name A Small JR.
It is considered opinion of the club that it is a special commission for the
founding Chairman of the Giffnock & District Branch, Glasgow and Western
Counties Region of the British Legion Scotland which had been formed in 1936.
